Softball: Pinson Valley drops two games at Wallace State tournament

CULLMAN — Pinson Valley faced tough going in the first day of the Wallace State Softball Tournament, losing big to Sardis and falling in a closer contest to Austin.

The Indians lost a 6-3 decision to Austin, as Aleah Garth smashed a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the Black Bears the lead for good. Amber Howard had two of Pinson’s five hits and drove in a run.

In the second game, Sardis dominated from the start as they won 15-2, helped by seven Indian errors — of the 14 runs that crossed the plate in Nicole Fisher’s 3-1/3 innings, just five were earned.

Kameron Carter was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored, and Jadie Fobbus was 2-for-3 with three runs driven in for the Lions.

Lauren Tralongo was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Pinson.
