KIMBERLY — The top-ranked softball team in Class 3A has taken down a big name in Class 5A for the second time this season.
Hope Hasser's home run was the big blast in a six-run second inning rally, as Pisgah shut out Mortimer Jordan 7-0 on Wednesday.
Eagles pitcher Megan Smith held the Blue Devils to just two hits and struck out seven as she went the distance for the win. Bailey Murphy worked five innings and struck out six, but gave up nine hits and six earned runs before being pulled in favor of reliver Savannah Crawford. She had three strikeouts and no hits in two innings' work for the Devils (18-9).
Hasser was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Eagles (23-7-2).
Jordan travels to Cullman for a weekend tournament on Friday.
