Football: Gardendale 32, Buckhorn 6

Gardendale closed out its regular season with its sixth straight win, a 32-6 decision over visiting Buckhorn.

Quarterback Hunter Crook had one of his best nights of the year with three touchdown passes: a 11-yarder to Chris Blakey and a 7-yard toss to Jesse Blackburn in the second quarter, and a 30-yard strike to Connor Reed in the third.

Jordan Howard added to his head-turning season stats with a touchdown on a 1-yard run on the Rockets’ first drive of the night. He had 80 yard on 16 carries.

Sam Peacock added a couple of chip-shot field goals, from 21 and 23 yards. He was 2-for-4 on extra-point kicks, with one blocked.

Crook finished with 167 yards and 10 completions on 17 attempts.

Blackburn had one of his best games ever on defense, with a pair of sacks and three tackles for loss.

Hunter Chapman’s 10-yard touchdown pass to McKenzie Graham was the Bucks’ only score of the game.

The Rockets finish the season with a 7-3 regular-season record. They advance to the AHSAA Class 6A playoffs, where they will face ninth-ranked Tuscaloosa County at Northport next Friday night.
