Girls basketball: Gardendale 50, Pinson Valley 44

GARDENDALE — It was not the most energetic of efforts by Gardendale, but a win is a win.

The Rockets got 10 points in the fourth quarter from senior center Chelsey Deloney, as they closed out their regular season with a 50-44 win over Pinson Valley on Monday night.

“We came out a little flat, but we persevered and pulled it out,” Rocket coach Amy Barnett said.

Deloney finished with 15 points, and Lakeyia Conner added 10, including a pair of 3-point goals. Alice Lowery led the Indians with 15 points. Kariana McAdoo and Destini McKinney added 11 each.

Gardendale hosts its area tournament starting Thursday night. They will face Huffman in the first round.
