CLEVELAND, Ala. — Hayden's girls took the lead at the end of the third quarter, then ran away from Locust Fork in the fourth for a 60-47 victory in Friday's semifinals of the Blount County Basketball Tournament.
The Hornets, who just fell out of the Class 4A state top-10 rankings last week, led by three going into the last miinute of the third. But in the final period, Brooke Meadows took control for the Wildcats, scoring eight points and swiping two steals to push Hayden out to a 52-40 lead midway through the frame.
Grayson Taylor scored 19 points, with three 3-point goals, and had nine rebounds plus seven assists for the Wildcats. Katie Parr recorded yet another double-double with 13 points and 13 boards, and Sharley Miller scored 10 points.
Kristen Cox led Locust Fork (18-6) with 19 points; she put up a whopping 23 field-goal attempts for the night. Kasi McMillan grabbed nine rebounds.
