HUEYTOWN — Mortimer Jordan got off to a fast start with their pressure defense and transition scoring, leading throughout the game as they defeated Oak Grove 65-51 in the first round of the Jefferson County Small School bracket Tuesday night at Hueytown.
Forward Seth Barnett led the Blue Devils (17-4) with 14 points. Orion Recke scored 13, Connor Moon 11 and Mark Louis 10.
Oak Grove's Griff Garner led all scorers with 19 and teammate Jonah Todd added 16, including four treys.
Mortimer Jordan faces Corner, who defeated Fultondale earlier Tuesday evening, in the small-school championship game on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
