MADISON, Ala. — Heather Webb smashed a two-run homer and a run-scoring double, as she led Madisonville-North Hopkins, Kentucky to a 10-2 win over Pinson Valley at the Bob Jones Invitational Softball Tournament on Friday.
The Maroons shut out the Indians until the fifth and final inning of the time-limited game. MNH sealed the deal with a six-run rally in the fourth inning.
Kaylee Tow was 2-for-3 with a run-scoring triple, and pushed ahead another run on a bases-loaded walk for the Maroons.
Pinson finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Kaitlin Crocker hit a triple, then scored on a Nicole Fisher bunt single. Fisher then moved to second on a wild pitch, and came home on a hit by Emmie Waldrop.
Mallory Peyton got the win for the Maroons, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out two. Tristen Griffith was tagged with the loss for the Indians.
Both teams move into single-elimination bracket play on Saturday.
