PINSON — Brent Stephens' run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning was the difference, as Pinson Valley edged Hewitt-Trussville 3-2 in baseball action Saturday.
The Stephens hit brought home Joseph Downing, the courtesy runner for catcher Austin Little, who had gotten on board when he was hit by a pitch. Downing moved to second on a wild pitch, then came all the way home on Stephens' one-out liner to right field.
The Huskies took an early lead when they scored a run on an Indians error in the first. Pinson came back with runs on a Tyler Evans hit in the third and a Scott Falkinburg double in the fourth. Hewitt tied the game in the fifth with a single run.
Falkinburg finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate. Evans went 2-for-4 and Josh Hines was 2-for-3.
Wyatt Bruns went all seven innings to get the win for the Indians, striking out seven Huskies while allowing six hits and two walks.
