Softball: Locust Fork 15, Appalachian 2 (5 innings)

LOCUST FORK — The second softball meeting between Locust Fork and Appalachian ended much the same way as the first one, with the homestanding Hornets blasting the Eagles 15-2 in five innings Friday.

It was huge game for Christian Rhoads, who slammed a pair of three-run homers plus a run-scoring triple in four at-bats. Her seven RBIs are a season high for the team.

Jamie Gail Hudson was 4-for-4 with a run-scoring double, Haley Glasscox was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Brittany Files hit a two-run single for the Hornets.

Starter Tailor Massey went three innings and gave up two hits. Reliever Anna Hood pitched the last two innings, allowing two hits.

Locust Fork hosts Cleveland on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
