KIMBERLY — Mortimer Jordan's fourth-ranked softball team made short work of visiting Walker, winning by a 16-1 score in a game shortened to three innings by the mercy rule.
Freshman Blue Devils pitcher Bailey Murphy (4-1) excelled in the circle and at the plate; she allowed one hit and struck out two Vikings in two innings, and also smashed a three-run homer. She drove in four runs for the day.
Shelby Maze was 4-for-4 with a double, four RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs scored. Morgan Cantrell was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs score and two RBIs, Alyson Linn was 2-for-3 and Alexandra Copeland ws 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Erin Kennedy had Walker's lone hit.
Jordan travels to Hayden on Thursday for a battle of two teams ranked in the state's Class 5A top 10. The game begins at 4:30 p.m.
