Softball: Thompson 9, Pinson Valley 1

HOOVER — Pinson Valley ran into another tough opponent at the Orange and Black Invitational, as they fell to Thompson by a 9-1 score in six innings on Saturday.

The Warriors scored four runs on back-to-back homers by Sarah Holdbrooks and Haley Crumpton, knocking Indians starting pitcher Jenna Trimm out of the circle before she recorded an out. Lauren Keplinger finished the game, allowing five more runs on five hits.

The Tribe scattered seven hits throughout the game, but didn't cross the plate until Kirbi Tuck reached on a dropped third strike, moved to third on a Kim Hollman hit and scored on Dallas Payton's line drive single to center field.

Macie Crumpton pitched all six innings for the Warriors, with one walk and one strikeouts.
