Girls basketball: No. 7 (3A) Holly Pond 60, No. 10 (4A) Locust Fork 37

LOCUST FORK — Barely 13 hours after a win over Springville the night before, Locust Fork struggled Saturday morning to keep up with Holly Pond after the first period, falling to the seventh-ranked team in Class 3A by a 60-37 score in a Coaches vs. Cancer game.

Natasha Holcombe led with 16 points, and Taylor Terry scored 12 for the Broncos (12-2).

The Hornets were down by just one point after eight minutes, but Holly Pond pulled away from that point onward.

Jamie Gail Hudson led Locust Fork with 11 points. Kasi McMillan had nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Hornets (10-3) play at Hayden Monday night, attempting to avenge an earlier loss to the Wildcats.

The Cullman Times, our sister newspaper, contributed to this report.
