Boys basketball: Hayden 49, J.B. Pennington 46

HAYDEN — New Hayden boys basketball coach Stephen Glover at last has his first varsity career victory, and the Wildcats are off the schneid as they take a 49-46 win over Blount County rival J.B. Pennington on Friday night.

Chris Whitt scored a personal-best 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Houston Launius got his first-ever double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Duncan Parker hauled in 17 rebounds, blocked seven shots and scored eight points, and Luke Wall added 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (1-5).

Austin Taylor led all scorers with 23 points, and Hunter Ganus added 12 for Pennington (2-4).
