GARDENDALE — Allen Williams had a different kind of double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 steals as Gardendale came from behind in the last two minutes to beat Pell City 54-50 in boys basketball action Tuesday night.
Trey Evans anso scored a conventional double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Juan Jackson added 11 points, and Hunter Hardman had two blocked shots.
The Rockets (3-2) struggled from the floor, shooting just 27 percent (17-of-63), and 11 percent (2-of-19) from 3-point range.
Gardendale travels to Clay-Chalkville Thursday night, where they will face the Cougars for the second time in nine days. The Rockets fell 65-32 to Clay in the semifinals of the Cougars' Thanksgiving tournament last week.
