KIMBERLY — North Jefferson Middle pulled off a sweep of arch-rival Bragg in boys basketball Monday night.
In the eighth-grade game and a battle of unbeaten teams, the Blue Devils overcame a 19-point lead by the Rockets, who are known for playing the fast-paced style made famous recently by Grinnell College. But North Jeff cut the lead to nine after three periods, and then outscored Bragg 26-14 in the final quarter to win 69-66.
Patrick Burkett led all scorers with 22 points. Kyle Elsberry scored 16, Trey Peters had 13 and Tristin Morris scored 12 for the Devils (7-0).
The loss drops the eighth-grade Rockets to 5-1.
In the seventh-grade contest, North Jeff led all the way and won 50-40. Julius Washington led the Devils (6-2) with 14 points and Colby Harris scored 11 points.
