The North Jefferson Middle School boys and the Bragg Middle School girls each won their respective divisions of the Jefferson County Schools Track and Field Championships last week.
North Jefferson won the boys’ title by six points over runner-up McAdory, the only school to beat the Blue Devils in five meets this season. Bragg placed fifth and Corner seventh.
Enrique Class won the 1,600 meter run and was third in the 800, Chase Capps won the discus, Devin Crenshaw was second in the high jump, and Nick Mann was third in the discuss.
Hunter Curtis of Corner was second in the 1,600, and Bragg’s Andrew Freeman was second in both the discuss and the shot put.
Bragg dominated the girls division with 112 points, far ahead of runner-up McAdory’s 69. Corner was third and North Jefferson fourth.
For the Rockets, Lauren Hill won the shot put with teammate Lauren Bowman right behind, and Emily Blackburn won the discus. Kerilyn Mulkin was second in the 400 meter run, Morgan Goolsby second at 1,600, and Kailey Murray was second in the javelin throw.
The Yellow Jackets’ Allie Harper won the high jump, with teammate Alexis Knight second. Chloe Mosley was runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles.
Savannah Greene won both the 800 and 1,600 for the Blue Devils. and Melissa Gentry won the javelin and was second in discus.
