Fultondale’s boys soccer team won’t have an unblemished sectional record this year.
The Wildcats finally got to play their season opener, after three other scheduled matches were called off or postponed, and lost a 1-0 decision at Leeds on Wednesday.
Fernando Rodriguez had the game’s only goal, scored in the 35th minute for Leeds (2-1).
Green Wave goalkeeper Brian Shockley stopped eight Fultondale shots on goal, most coming from attackers Gustavo Ezquerra and Tony Cruz.
Ernesto Valladares Jr. had 10 saves in goal for the Wildcats.

• Gardendale 7, Sumiton Christian 2: The Rockets swept their season opener Thursday, with the only two losses coming because of forfeits in the sixth singles and third doubles matches.
