KIMBERLY — Gardendale used accurate fre throw shooting to come back from a one-point deficit after three quarters and defeat Mortimer Jordan 68-61 in the regular-season boys basketball finale for both teams.
The physical battle put both sides at the foul line for much of the game. The Rockets were 31-for-41 while the Blue Devils hit 24-of-32, both at 75 percent.
Juan Jackson led all scorers with 25 points, going 13-of-16 at the foul line (81 percent) for Gardendale. Allen Williams was close behind with 23 points; he was 11-of-12 (92 percent) at the line.
Jordan was paced by Dalton Hudson's 16 points. Cobly Moon added 14 and Sawyer Swindle 11. Moon was a perfect 8-of-8 at the charity stripe while Hudson was 8-of-10 (80 percent).
The game was postponed from three weeks earlier because of winter weather.
The teams begin area tournament play on Friday. Gardendale travels to Huffman to take on Hewitt-Trussville, while Jordan goes to Walker to take on Hayden.
