MILLBROOK, Ala. —
They didn’t keep score. But if they had, Tabernacle Christian would have come out a winner.
The Torches played New Life Christian in a controlled scrimmage last Friday night, as the two teams prepared for this week’s season openers in Christian Football Association eight-man football.
Junior quarterback Carson Dabbs connected with running back Frederick Goodgame on a checkdown pass that resulted in a 45-yard gain. Dabbs also found sophomore tight end JoJo Zassoda for another pass of about 50 yards.
Torches coach Wayne Dabbs said that Carson Dabbs (Wayne’s cousin) went 4-for-8 for the night, “and the other four [incomplete passes] were mostly dropped by receivers.”
Tabernacle will host Tuscaloosa Christian in the season opener on Friday at 7 p.m., in The North Jefferson News “Big Game” of the week.
