Boys basketball: Locust Fork 69, Hayden 35

HAYDEN — Clay Smith scored 15 points to pace Locust Fork to a 69-35 mercy-rule win over homestanding Hayden in boys basketball action Monday.

Smith was 3-of-7 from outside the 3-point arc, leading three Hornets in double figures. Kyle Hornbuckle scored 12 points, and Geoffrey Bramblett had 11 for Locust Fork (10-3).

Chris Witt scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Wildcats (2-9). Duncan Parker added nine points and seven boards, and Houston Launius had eight points and four assists.

Hayden hosts West Point on Tuesday night, while the Hornets are off for the holidays, returning to play at Briarwood Christian on Jan. 3.
