Boys basketball: Pinson Valley 72, Hewitt-Trussville 60

PINSON — John Marable scored 22 points, going 3-for-3 from 3-point land, and also hauled in 10 rebounds to lead Pinson Valley to a 72-60 win over Hewitt-Trussville in Friday night boys basketball.

Guard Marcus Merriweather also scored 22 points, and Devon Gary added 10, as the Indians (8-4) pulled away from Hewitt in the fourth quarter.

Jarvis Calhoun led all scorers with 27 points, and Tony Hampton put in 18 for the Huskies (5-6).

Pinson ends a seven-game homestand next Tuesday night when they host Springville.
