Girls Basketball: Gardendale 49, Pell City 24

PELL CITY — It looked for all the world like a garden-variety blowout, but Gardendale girls basketball coach Amy Barnett says their 49-24 win Monday at Pell City (3-3) was anything but.

“Our bench played phenomenally,” Barnett said. “They really put the game out of reach. They scored 19 points, and when our starters got in foul trouble, that really made the difference.”

Chelsea Robinson had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chesley Deloney added eight points and seven boards.

Roxie Faulkner and Kelci Tuggle came off the bench to score seven points each for the Rockets (3-1).
