Boys basketball: Gardendale 92, Hueytown 71

CLAY — Gardendale turned on the afterburners late in the game, scoring 36 points in the fourth quarter as the Rockets defeated Hueytown 92-71 in the third-place game of the Clay-Chalkville Thanksgiving Tournament.

Trey Evans scored a personal-best 30 points, and was hot from the field. Evans was 12-for-19 (63 percent), and 3-for-4 behind the 3-point arc. He also had 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Juan Jackson and D.J. Lewis each added 16 points, and Allen Williams scored 12. Lewis also had seven rebounds and four steals; Williams had five steals and eight assists.

Gardendale shot 33-of-67 (49 percent) from the floor.

The Rockets (2-2) host Pell City next Tuesday.
