Boys basketball: Pinson Valley 78, Clay-Chalkville 68

PINSON — Pinson Valley outscored visiting Clay-Chalkville 17-6 in the econd quarter, and maintained that margin the rest of the way as the Indians won 78-68 in Tuesday boys basketball action.

Marcus Merriweather scored 28 points to lead Pinson. Zach Jackson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Donevan Waldrop added 10 points.

Five Cougars scored in double digits. Cory Judkins and Darius Jordan scored 13 points each, Sean Burrell added 12, Hasan Abdullah 11 and Marcus Baldwin 10.

The Indians (16-10) travel to Mountain Brook on Friday.
