Boys basketball: Corner 57, Mortimer Jordan 38

CORNER — It was a huge night for Corner's Blake Byrd, and he scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Yellow Jackets whacked visiting Mortimer Jordan 57-38.

Byrd also had six assists, and was 5-for-7 from outside the 3-point arc. He was the only scorer in double digits for either team.

It was only the third loss of the season for the Blue Devils, but the second in a row.

"Our kids just played good defense, and they rebounded well," Jackets coach Billy Conner said.

Austin Sanford scored nine points and Austin Norris added eight for Corner (9-9), which travels to area for Oak Grove on Friday night.

Brandon Spears had nine points and Mark Louis eight for Jordan (15-3). They travel to Hayden on Friday night, where a victory would secure the regular-season area title and home-court advantage in the area tournament.
