BIRMINGHAM — Carver cut a 14-point Gardendale lead down to two points in the late going, but Kelci Tuggle and Mallorie Corbin hit crucial free throws in the final minute to help seal a 36-30 Rockets area victory Tuesday night.
Gardendale's big girls had big games on the glass, with Chelsea Robinson pulling down 16 rebounds and Chelsey Deloney grabbibg 14. Deloney scored nine, Robinson eight and Corbin seven for the Rockets (11-4, 3-0 area).
Paris Lee Parker led the Rams with 14 points.
The Rockets host Huffman in another Class 6A Area 12 contest Friday.
