Senior Night was a short night for Mortimer Jordan softball, at least in terms of the number of innings, as the Blue Devils walked their way to a 15-0 win over Center Point, which went just three innings on the mercy rule.
Jordan had only two base hits, but two Eagle pitchers gave up 18 walks between them.
Senior Tiffani Chaviers got one of the two hits and walked twice with an RBI. Among the other seniors, Haylie McCleney did not have an official at-bat as she walked twice and hit a sacrifice fly to drive in two runs and score twice in the first inning; Lindsay Williams had two walks and scored both times; and Nikki Chafin walked twice and scored once.
Starter Bailey Murphy worked one hitless inning, then handed off to Natalie Johnsey (6-7), who earned the win and allowed one hit to Kayunna Parrish in two innings. She struck out four.
Jordan hosts the Area 11 Tournament starting Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The hosts play Walker in the first game, with Hayden facing Curry in the second. The tournament resumes Thursday with second-round play, with the finals Saturday.
