FULTONDALE — Sixth-ranked Fultondale ran and ran and ran all night long, as they ran over visiting Vincent 54-14 Friday on Homecoming Night.
The Wildcats gained 401 yards on the ground on 41 rush attempts, just under 10 yards per play. Add to that the 72 yards from the three passes thrown by Kris Lewis, an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown by Derrick Houston and an 86-yard kickoff return by Jared Stewart, and Fultondale amassed a spectacular 633 all-purpose yards for the evening.
Running back Khyree Robinson led the way with three touchdowns, all rushing. He opened the scoring with a 9-yard run with 8:13 left in the first quarter, added a 25-yard score late in the second, and put up an 18-yard touchdown run in the third.
Stewart also ran for a 5-yard score not long into the second period. Kris Lewis ran to paydirt from 10 yards out early in the second half, and Brandon Lewis scored the final Wildcat touchdown of the game with an 80-yard dash in the fourth period.
The Yellow Jackets didn’t get on the board until the final period, when Ryan Kelow dived in from the 1. Rodney Groce added a 14-yard touchdown later on.
Brandon Lewis led the ground game with 164 yards on seven rush attempts. Robinson finished with 116 yards on 14 carries, and Kris Lewis gained 79 yards on nine carries as well as going 3-for-3 on passes.
Braxton Sparks led the defense with 10 tackles. Antwan McCary and Derrick Pollard had nine each.
Fultondale remains unbeaten in seven games; they are scheduled to host Victory Christian-Pell City next week, then travel to unbeaten Ranburne for what will likely determine the top regional playoff seed on Oct. 25.
