GARDENDALE — Caleb Lindsey threw four touchdown passes to receivers named Tristan — two to Tristan Castro, the other two to Tristan Lash — as Tabernacle Christian closed out its Christian Football Association league schedule with a 46-24 win Friday over First Assembly Christian of Ashland.
Castro caught scoring passes of 60 and 27 yards, and also rushed for touchdowns from eight and three yards for the Torches.
Lash had nearly-identical back-to-back touchdown receptions from Lindsey, one for 31 yards and another for 32, both in the third quarter.
Tabernacle (5-3, 3-1 CFA) put up gaudy yardage numbers on the Lions, with 266 yards on the ground and 212 through the air. Lindsey was 12-for-18 for the night with one interception.
Castro ran for 139 yards on just seven carries, while Lash had 69 yards on four carries.
The Torches must await play over the next two weeks to see if they will remain as the second seed in the CFA playoffs, with semifinals to be played on Oct. 25. Tabernacle closes out the regular season next week when they travel to Russell Christian, a team from Meridian, Miss. that is transitioning to 11-man football next year.
