FULTONDALE — Fultondale had no problems with visiting Victory Christian of Pell City on Friday, winning both ends of a softball doubleheader by run-rule scores of 16-6 in five innings and 17-0 in three.

The two victories give the Wildcats a clear path to a likely tie with Vicncent for the area regular-season championship. Those two teams split their regular-season contests against each other, and both have either easily defeated their other two area foes, or are heavily favored to do so later.

In Friday's first game, Fultondale put nine runners across home plate, including the first seven in the batting order. Meanwhile, pitcher Katrina Hubbard struck out six Eagle batters, though she did allow eight walks.

Wildcat shortstop Katie Jasper reached base on a single and three walks, and scored each time.

In the nightcap, Katie Jasper's sister Kayla had little trouble with the Eagles' order, zipping through with one hit and two walks. Katie Jasper was 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored, while Hubbard was 1-for-2 and also scored three times for Fultondale (6-5, 3-1 area).
