GARDENDALE — Allen Williams scored 20 points, but Gardendale had to withstand a late surge by Carver's Delvron Gholston and Curdarious Haynes to hand on to a 57-53 area-game victory Tuesday.
Williams hit a pair of 3-pointers, and was 6-of-8 at the foul line in the second half. Juan Jackson added 15 points, and was 7-for-10 at the charity stripe, and Trey Evans grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rockets (4-6, 1-0 area).
Gholston scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter, as did Haynes with his eight points. Latarious Carroll led the Rams (3-6, 0-2 area).
