Caleb Thompson was on fire, scoring a career-high 40 points to power Tabernacle Christian to a 58-44 win over First Assembly Christian on Friday in the ACEAA boys basketball season opener for both teams.
Thompson had already racked up 30 points by halftime, outscoring the visiting Lions all by himself.
John White added nine points for the Torches (1-1, 1-0 ACEAA).
Girls — Tabernacle Christian 45, First Assembly Christian 32: Mallory Oliver scored 12 points and Lauren Box added 11, as the Torches won their ACEAA opener.
Faith Howard chipped in seven points, as Tabernacle (1-1, 1-0 ACEAA) pulled away from the Lions in the third quarter after trailing much of the first half.
