ONEONTA — Christian Rhodes hit a three-run homer plus a double, but it wasn’t enough as host Oneonta defeated Locust Fork 12-4 in softball action Tuesday.
Rhodes hit her home run in the third, while Haley Glasscox followed up with an RBI single in the fifth, but by that time the Redskins — whose roster has no seniors or juniors — had already taken command of the game.
Seventh-grader Jordan Criswell drove in six Oneonta runs with a home run and two doubles. Freshman pitcher Isabella Dickie had an RBI triple that scored Criswell, and Kalle Killough was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Dickie struck out six Hornets as she went the full seven innings for the victory. Jamie Gail Hudson was knocked out after two innings for Locust Fork, having conceded six runs by that time. Rhodes finished up, striking out three but walking five in four innings of relief.
The Hornets are off until next Monday and Tuesday, when they play home-and-away area games with St. Clair County.
