JeffCo Boys Basketball Tournament: Pinson Valley 62, Minor 52

HUEYTOWN — Marcus Merriweather scored 18 points to lead all scorers, as Pinson Valley defeated Minor 62-52 Friday night in the third-place game of the Jefferson Conty Schools Basketball Tournament large-school division.

After a close first quarter, the Indians opened up an eight-point lead at halftime and kept their margin the rest of the way, despite struggling from the outside with just 1-of-9 from 3-point land.

Johnathan Marable scored 10 points and added nine rebounds.

Pat Edmonds scored 13 points and Gene Davis added 11 for the Tigers, with each hitting a pair of treys.
