PANAMA CITY, Fla. —

Gardendale finished the Panama City Invitational in sixth place after dropping their third straight game on the coast on Thursday afternoon. The Rockets fell to Panama City Arnold 2-1 in the fifth-place matchup.

Gardendale took an early 1-0 lead when Zakk Morton scored on a third-inning error, but were unable to produce any offense from then on.

Arnold tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning off a Rocket error that scored the runner from second base. An inning later, the Marlins would strand two runners on base, but the damage was already done. The go-ahead run came way of a Justin Bynum RBI single that brought home shortstop Braden Burns, and put Arnold ahead for good.

Gardendale pitcher Brady Sellers went the distance and threw well for coach Pat Keedy. He allowed one earned run, struck out two and walked three.

Bynum also went all seven for the Marlins. Hardly overpowering, he threw strikes and kept the Rockets grounded. #13 forced Gardendale to groundout nine times and held them to six hits for the game.

Gardendale will now lick their wounds under the strong Panama City Beach sun before heading back home where area play awaits.
