NEW MARKET, Ala. — Kasi McMillan had a huge night on the boards, pulling down 21 rebounds to go with 13 points. But it wasn't enough for Locust Fork to stop Buckhorn, who won 49-45 in girls basketball action Wednesday.
The Bucks (3-4) and Hornets were nearly deadlocked most of the way, but Buckhorn pulled away late in the fourth quarter. Locust Fork struggled from the field, hitting 15-of-54 (28 percent) and 0-for-10 from outside the 3-point arc.
Kristen Cox scored 12 points, and Jamie Gail Hudson gabbed 12 boards for the Hornets. Jessica Ward led all scorers with 18 points for the Bucks; Morgan Tipton added 14.
Locust Fork (4-2) plays at St. Clair County on Tuesday night.
