Girls basketball: Pinson Valley 43, No. 6 Center Point 42 (OT)

PINSON — Destini McKinney scored 14 points, but none were bigger than the two free throws to put the game into overtime, where Maralie McKinney scored the winning points as Pinson Valley defeated sixth-ranked Center Point 43-42 in a crucial Class 5A Area 11 girls basketball game Friday.

Destini McKinney hit her two foul shots with 1:22 left in regulation. The Indians outscored the Eagles 15-7 in the third quarter to take a slim one-point lead into the final period.

Maralie McKinney and Nahtika Belser each scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Tribe. Taliah Davis led Center Point (13-8, 4-1 area) with nine points.

Pinson (5-12) scores consecutive wins for the first time this season, and now sports a 2-3 area record.
