Tabernacle roughed up by physical Covenant

HUNTSVILLE – Covenant Christian has long had a reputation for physical play, and it lived up to its reputation Monday night as they handed Tabernacle Christian a 46-34 loss.

“We don’t really mind it – we’re kind of physical ourselves,” said Torches coach David Corbett. “But they were too much for us.”

John White led all scorers with 16 points, helped in part by a decision by Corbett to move him in the offensive scheme.

“We moved John down low, and that helped, but (Covenant) jumped out early and stayed out,” Corbett said.

After the adjustment, White took a spectacular charge from a driving Logan Stallings, but the foul was not called.

Micah Douthit led the Falcons with 15 points. Stallings added 11.

[Editor’s note: Information from Tuesday’s game was not available at press time.]
