Corner, Jordan to host second round

The Corner Lady Yellow Jackets (37-14) and the Mortimer Jordan Lady Blue Devils (44-4) will host second round sub-state softball playoff series today.
Mortimer Jordan will host Pleasant Grove (19-20-1) in 5A play, beginning at 11 a.m.
Corner will host East Limestone (23-11-2) at 3 p.m.
Each series in the second sub-state playoff round is a best-of-three format.
The winners of each series will move onto the state softball championship tournament at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park softball complex, May 15-17.
Class 5A play at the state tournament begins on May 15 and concludes May 16. Class 4A play at the state tournament begins May 16 and concludes May 17.
On Tuesday, in first round sub-state play, Mortimer Jordan blasted Lee-Huntsville, 19-0 and 22-1, while Corner whipped Guntersville 7-2 and 7-1.
Jordan will be seeking its fourth straight trip to Montgomery, as the current senior class has finished eighth, second and third in the past three seasons.
Corner will be seeking it’s third straight trip to Lagoon Park.
