ALDOT plans I-65 lane closures for guard rail repairs

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has begun work on I-65 from one end of Jefferson County to the other that will close some lanes during the overnight hours.

Workers began performing repairs on guard rails beside the right lanes on I-65 Sunday night. The work will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, as weather permits. Crews will begin at the Shelby County line at mile marker 248 in Hoover, and progress northward to the Blount County line at mile marker 283.8 near Warrior.

Once crews complete work on right-lane guard rails, they will then retrace their route to work on guard rails in the median, which will require the left lanes to be closed.

The project is scheduled to take four weeks. No word on the specific dates when I-65 in northern Jefferson County will be impacted.
