Tip leads to meth lab, arrests in north Jefferson County

NORTH JEFFERSON — A Gardendale man and a Warrior woman were arrested on Tuesday after deputies received a tip from another man who had just been arrested.

At about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies received information that a wanted person was at a western Jefferson County metal recycling business. They went to the business and arrested him; they then learned from him the location of two possible methamphetamine labs.

Deputies then went to these locations in an attempt to locate the labs.

The first location was in the 3500 block of Gobblers Nob Road near Warrior. Deputies contacted Chastity Nicole Jones and James Michael Hodges. Each gave fake names and other identifiers to avoid being arrested for outstanding warrants.

Deputies discovered their true identities fand arrested them both, taking them to the Jefferson County Jail.

No meth lab was found at this address, but Jones, 24, of Warrior, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear on charges of possession of a controlled substance and DUI, as well as obstructing justice with a false ID.

She remains in jail and has no bond.

Hodges, 40, of Gardendale, posted $2,500 bond for the charge of obstructing justice with a false ID, and was released.

At the second location, at the 1800 block of Sardis Road near Morris, deputies contacted three people, none of whom had outstanding warrants. Deputies discovered an old meth lab and materials for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Narcotics deputies were called to the scene and took over the investigation. Charges in this case are pending the results of the investigation.
