Good Shepherd Oktoberfest set for Saturday

GARDENDALE — A north Jefferson County church is again opening its doors for fall festivities by hosting a community-wide celebration.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is planning its annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds from the festival go to two charitable organizations.

The church is raising funds for the North Jefferson Women’s Center in Fultondale in order to support the center’s goal of purchasing an ultrasound machine. Part of the Oktoberfest proceeds will also go to Blood-Water Mission, which provides water filtration for schools in Africa.

The festival will feature authentic German food as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. A plate of German or American food is $7.

There will also be a petting zoo, yard sale, inflatables, face painting, bake sale and vendors. Vendor booths are $30 each and are available until Oct. 16.
