It’s Friday! Good morning all ...
Traffic: No major construction is planned in the north Jefferson area; it should be smooth sailing today.
Weather: We have a good chance of getting thunderstorms today. Highs will again be in the 90s, and overnight lows will be in the mid-70s. There is a slight chance of rain Saturday, but Sunday looks to be hot and dry.
Training: More than 40 law enforcement personnel converged on Morris Thursday for training in executing high-risk search and arrest warrants.
Inmate death: Alabama Department of Corrections inmate Steven Newell, 23, died Thursday. Authorities say his death was the result of an apparent homicide at the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County. He was sentenced in November 2010 to eight years in prison for assault and theft in Calhoun County.
