Glennwood Fire Department is opening its doors to the community.
The department is hosting an open house on Sept. 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’re trying to get people out from the community to come by and look at the station and talk to some of the volunteers,” said Fire Chief Rick Nail.
There will be a live band performing during the event. In addition, Lifesaver personnel will be on hand with their equipment, as well as Rep. Allen Treadaway, R-51st, and officials with the Environmental Protection Agency to talk about burn laws.
The station is also selling ribs for $20 and Boston butts for $25 for the open house. Firefighters will be pre-selling tickets. Individuals can also call the station at 680-3356 or stop by on Tuesday evenings, 6-8 p.m., between now and Sept. 14 to order in advance.
Nail said Glennwood also needs more volunteers. The department currently has 18 volunteers, but only five are active for medical calls. The fire station is at 1830 Glennwood Road in Morris.
