Graysville man arrested in Mt. Olive Dollar General robbery

MT. OLIVE — Gardendale police have obtained warrants following the robbery of the Dollar General store on Mt. Olive Road.

Conrad Alan Carroll, 29, of Graysville is charged with robbery first degree and receiving stolen property first degree (for possession of a stolen truck).

On Wednesday at 9 p.m., a suspect with a handgun allegedly robbed Dollar General, taking an “undermined amount of currency, Reese’s miniatures and Ritz crackers.”

After a description was broadcast, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle in Interstate 65 south, which turned out to be a truck stolen in Blount County, according to Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker.

The truck was occupied by three individuals.

The driver refused to stop, so a pursuit began. During the chase, the suspects began throwing money out of the vehicle, according to Walker.

The pursuit ended in the Forestdale area after two tires blew out on the truck.

All three suspects were taken into custody. There were no injuries or property damage in the incident.

Carroll has been transferred to the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $90,000.

Two other individuals are also being held for felony investigations involving local jurisdictions, according to Walker.
