Hello, Tuesday…
Weather: Some more rumbles. After a line of loud thunderstorms rolled through the area just after midnight, more storms are shaping up for this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s and nighttime lows in the upper 60s. Rain chances are 60 percent today, tapering off tonight. Storms will thin out more on Wednesday, with highs near 90.
Traffic: If the weather cooperates, ALDOT plans to implement a rolling roadblock on I-65 through the Corridor X construction zone on Tuesday. The roadblock will start at the Fieldstown Road exit going southbound, and Daniel Payne Drive going northbound, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Jethro Gibbs would not be impressed. A Warrior man was arrested for impersonating a peace office Monday, after he told sheriff’s deputies that he was an agent for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and the federal Counter-Terrorism Unit, doing an undercover investigation of a house in McDonald’s Chapel. But the ID cards he produced were obviously fake, and he was carrying four handguns plus a pair of handcuffs. He soon admitted that he wasn’t an NCIS agent — but he wanted to be. The man’s identity is withheld pending formal charges; for now, he’s jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond. Oh, and a mental health referral has been made.
Three dead in Texas A&M shooting spree. A man who was being kicked out of a house near the A&M campus shot and killed the constable serving the eviction notice, then also a bystander before police killed the shooter. Police said that Thomas Caffall was killed after a 30-minute standoff at the house near Kyle Field, the Aggies’ football stadium. Two other policemen were wounded.
Graysville mayor quits. After months of battling with city council members and facing impeachment proceedings, Graysville Mayor Doug Brewer submitted his resignation to a council meeting Monday night. The resignation takes effect this afternoon at 5.
Sports: Mr. Foster, we need to talk. Highly recruited high school linebacker Reuben Foster met with officials yesterday — but it wasn’t the NCAA as his mother told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Instead, it was the Alabama High School Athletic Association, who had some questions about his transfer from a LaGrange, Ga. school to Auburn High. Foster, who had originally verbally committed to Alabama, switched to Auburn University after the move. The AHSAA wanted to make sure there was no college booster involved in the move, according to Foster’s mother…. NFL: Not exactly an offensive shodown in Monday night’s pre-season game, as Dan Bailey’s field goal was the only score of the game in a 3-0 Dallas win at Oakland.
