— Another Monday, another work week…

Weather: Foggy start. We’ll see patches of fog throughout the morning hours, which will give way to sunny skies with a high in the upper 70s. Tonight’s lows will fall to the lower 50s. Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 80.

Explosion in Prague. A powerful blast in the capital of the Czech Republic has injured at least 40 people early this morning. The cause is not clear just yet, but police think it was a natural gas explosion, and foul play is not suspected.

Sports: Onward and upward. Pinson Valley has advanced to the AHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals, after the 10th-ranked Indians swept a doubleheader at Mortimer Jordan on Friday by scores of 3-2 and 2-0. They will host No. 5 Southside-Gadsden in a best-of-three series that starts with a Friday twin-bill… Softball: In a game that had no effect on the seeding in this week’s area tournament, sixth-ranked Mortimer Jordan coach Shawn Maze held out his ace pitcher, Bailey Murphy, in Saturday’s 14-1 five-inning loss to No. 7 Curry. The two teams will meet in a first-round game on Thursday night. The Area 12 tourney will be played at Jordan, as top-seeded and fifth-ranked Hayden is unable to host the event. Before that, though, the Blue Devils close out the regular season on Tuesday as they host Hoover… NBA: The Los Angeles Lakers’ star-crossed season came to an end Sunday, as they were swept out in four games in their first-round playoff series against San Antonio, thanks to a 103-82 loss at the Staples Center. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat advance with a 88-77 win over Milwaukee, winning that opening series 4-0.
