MORRIS — For the second time in less then 11 months, a bank in Morris has been robbed at gunpoint.
Peoples Bank at Morris-Majestic Road and Old U.S. 31 was robbed by two men at about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Both robbers were black males.
One robber is described as being 6-foot-5 and weighing about 225 lbs. He was wearing a white T-shirt, grey wind pants, navy blue boxer shorts and white-rimmed sunglasses. He had a lime-green face covering, and was wearing athletic gloves He was carrying a semi-automatic pistol in a holster.
The other robber is 5-foot-10, medium build and wearing a black hoodie, white T-shirt, black pants and white sneakers. He wore sunglasses and a camouflage face mask.
The robbers fled the scene in a white late-model (possibly 2011) Chevy Impala with a spoiler, and were headed south. Gardendale Police assisted Morris Police in an attempt to catch the suspects.
If you have any information in this robbery, call Morris Police at 647-0596, or the local office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 326-6166.
The bank branch was robbed on July 18, 2012, again by two armed suspects. There have been no reports of progress in that case.
The armed robbery is the fifth in the north Jefferson area in the past six weeks, but the only one at a bank. Three of those robberies occurred in Gardendale, two at pizza restaurants and one at a Dollar General store; one of those suspects was caught shortly afterward, but the others remain at large. In late May, another Dollar General was robbed, this one on Pinson Valley Parkway just south of Jefferson State Community College.
