Coming up: Look for the following in north Jefferson County in the next few days:
• The annual Warrior Day festival is Saturday at Warrior Park. It kicks off with a parade through Main Street, followed by music, arts and crafts, vendors, food, a raffle and more at the Warrior Ball Park.
• Also this weekend is the 30th annual St. Nicholas Food Festival at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Brookside. The festival is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Authentic Russian food will be for sale, and there will be a store with Russian items for sale. Russian dancers from Nataliya Russo Dance Arts will perform Sunday at 3 p.m.
• The Little Miss Southern Beauty pageant will be held at North Jefferson Middle School Sunday at 2 p.m.
Digging out: Out east, millions of residents are still without power as they try to recover from Hurricane Sandy. The death toll is now more than 70.
