NORTH JEFFERSON — Three Gardendale businesses were robbed last week; police have a suspect in custody from one of the incidents.

Two of the robberies were Saturday. The first was at the Dollar General store at Fieldstown Road and Phillips Drive. A black male reportedly used a gun to rob the store at about 2 p.m.

The suspect was driving a 1990s white Nissan maxima with tinted windows.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, a black male robbed Little Caesar’s Pizza in Gardendale. In that case, a patrol officer stopped the car and have the suspect in custody, according to Lt. Bryan Lynch.

He said police will release the suspect’s name after the department obtains warrants for his arrest.

Those incidents follow the Memorial Day robbery of Papa John’s Pizza on Decatur Highway. At about 1:50 p.m., two young black men reportedly entered the store with a handgun and robbed the business, then left on foot.

The suspects are both described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall; 130 pounds, wearing white T-shirts, dark shorts and dark bandannas. They were dropped off by an individual driving a champaign-colored car.

In all three cases, an undetermined amount of cash was taken.
